They are often so successful that they don’t have the time in the day to think about what they’re doing. They have to focus on getting customers and then they can lose customers.

This is where a lot of businesses fail. People have to focus on what they can do well (get ahead) and what they can do best (take advantage of opportunities). They have to think about the long term as well as the immediate. That is, they need to be able to be proactive and think about the longer term.

In business you have to be so busy that you can only think about what to do in a day. The problem is if you dont take the time to think about that then you get lost in the day to day and you cant even see what you are doing. For instance, if you are a business that is trying to get people to buy something you need to think about what that purchase means to your business in a very long term sense.

Another way to say this is that we need to stay current with our customers and develop a relationship with them. For instance, if we were trying to sell a business to a customer then we need to think about what the business is going to be used for, what the customer will expect from us, and what we should provide them.
