I like to think I’m pretty self-aware. I don’t think I’m the only one, though. I hear people say things like, “I’m going to do something about that.” When I’m talking to a new client or talking to my prospects, I like to use the word self-aware. Self-aware people know themselves better than anyone else, and they can get themselves back on track.
Of course, most of us are not self-aware. Some of us are just not aware of the fact that we don’t really know ourselves very well.
The problem is that a lot of self-knowledge is hidden from us, and this makes it hard to make the first step in achieving self-awareness: to realize that we don’t know ourselves very well. We might want to start a conversation with a friend who is self-aware about their own self-knowledge, but they might just prefer to talk to someone who is self-aware about their own self-knowledge.
The good news is that most people are self-aware, and thus can start to make the first step in achieving self-awareness. The bad news is that most people are self-aware, and thus are often unaware that they are self-aware.
The fact that most people are self-aware might be a bit counterintuitive. In my personal experience, most people who are self-aware are also very self-aware — and in fact, you might be the exception. People who are self-aware tend to be very aware of themselves, and are usually aware of the other person as well. They may have a little trouble talking about themselves, but most don’t struggle at all.

What makes a person self-aware? It’s the ability to be aware of yourself, of the other person, and of the world. This is a little tricky. The most obvious manifestation of self-awareness is the ability to tell the difference between fiction and reality. But there are other ways to be aware of yourself as well. You need to be aware of the thoughts, feelings, feelings of others, and the world around you.
How do you become aware of yourself? By looking at yourself, or rather, what you want to do or be. This isn’t a new concept. In the movie The Truman Show, the main character is an introvert who is constantly looking at himself in a mirror, trying to figure out who he is. One of the key points of the film is the scene in the mirror where he sees that his reflection is looking at his own reflection.
In our own life, we tend to reflect our own thoughts, feelings, and feelings of others, often unconsciously, without even realizing it. This is because our brains are constantly in a state of self-reflection, so it is hard to know what actually is going on in our internal world. It is much easier to look at the feelings of others and realize that it is what we want to do for ourselves.
