This blog post is a creative story about goblins who ran away, and why they did. It talks about the author’s process of making this story, and what kind of things went into it. This blog post also discusses the different ways that children can interact with a story like this one!
In order to write The Goblins Ran Away: Why And How I needed to take some time out for myself in my life as well as do research on what other people had done before me so that I could create something new.
My first step was reading books by Chris Van Allsburg (Jumanji), Roald Dahl (James & Giant Peach) and Dr Seuss (One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish). These were inspirational to me because they all had a lot of creativity and shared some similar ideas to what I wanted my story to be about. However, it was hard for me to find out how other people wrote the stories so that I could create one myself.
The Goblins Ran Away: Why And How is an original concept with references from books by Chris Van Allsburg (Jumanji), Roald Dahl (James & Giant Peach) and Dr Seuss (One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish).
The author uses mixed media including text, illustrations, graphics and animation in order for children to interact with the story on different devices such as iPads or iPhones. As kids read through this book they will notice that each goblin has its own personality.
