I don’t think you ever really stop thinking. You keep making decisions. You don’t stop thinking. You continue to have thoughts. It’s just that in the game of roguelikes you need to be aware of the thoughts that are coming into your head and what they mean.
When we play roguelikes, we don’t stop thinking. That’s why we have so many options: to continue thinking, to stop thinking, to start thinking, and then to end up in the game with nothing to do.
Roguelikes are about thinking. You have two options. You can play the game thinking completely random thoughts, or you can play the game thinking about the game. The game is a game of thinking. You play the game thinking about the game and the thought process in the game. You play the game thinking about the game. You continue to play the game thinking.
The game has a lot going on. You could play the game thinking about what you’re doing in the game, what you’re thinking about, how the game works, what the goal of the game is, what you want to happen next, etc. You could play the game thinking about how you’re playing the game and about what you’re thinking about.
That’s exactly right. The gameplay of a game plays out in the same way. The thought process that goes into the game plays out in the same way. The goal of the game plays out in the same way. The player’s goal plays out in the same way. And then you continue to think about the game thinking about the game, and continuing to play the game and continue thinking about the game.
Gaming is a lot more than just thinking about how the computer moves your character and what your character can do. It also involves thinking about the game itself, how to play it, how to get the best out of it, how to manage your expectations, and how to deal with failure.
There have been quite a few times in the past where we’ve been asked “what will you do with your character after you get a certain number of lives?” We’ve come up with a lot of great ideas, like the fact that your character might spend some time being a part of the pirate crew, and playing with other pirates, or that your character might be called upon to lead a war again.
We’ve also written up a lot of ideas for how to manage your expectations, and have come up with a few great ideas on how to deal with failure. The most important thing is to give yourself a challenge, and not get hung up on what you think you might be able to do within your limits. We are so used to the whole concept of a game taking a long time to get to the end that it can be difficult to put that all into perspective.
So, it’s all about setting the bar high and finding a challenge. The thing about roguelike games is that if you screw up on your first run through a dungeon you start to think, “I’m probably not going to get through this because I’m not going to have the same challenge as before!” That’s why it’s important to keep your expectations in check.
You’ll never get that same challenge if you put it in your head that you wont get a challenge if you fail to kill all the monsters. But if that is your goal, then you are just setting yourself up for failure. But if you can manage to get through the dungeon without killing any monsters at all then you have the best of both worlds.
