What I am going to say is that I have been in sales for many years, and this was one of my first real sales jobs. And I am not ready to sell, to be honest. But I also don’t want to do the same thing over and over again. I want to do something different and fun and different for my customers. I would love to work with you on this.

Small businesses are often very misunderstood. They are often described as “small and local”, but to many they are very different from that. People often see them as unimportant, unprofitable, and unthreatening. Well, you can say the same thing about the average person. For most people, doing a job like selling a small business is like doing a job that requires them to drive a taxi, but for me it was a whole different ballgame.

So, I’m not a small business sales consultant, but you’re right, I do have a lot of experience selling small businesses. The thing is, I’ve been selling and selling and selling for a long time, and if you are selling a small business, you’ve probably sold it before.

Sure you have. In fact, if youve ever sold a small business, you probably have sold it before. Most of these folks Ive sold to have had previous experience in selling to small business owners, but this could be a good thing. People are less likely to try to take advantage of you when youve proven to be trustworthy.

Small business sales people have been on the block before. It is a good thing that we are still seeing so many of them in the business today since you will almost always be on the block before you are allowed to sell your business. But if you are an owner selling a small business, and youve tried to take advantage of a sales person before, well if youve sold before, you probably wont be able to sell your business.

With so many sellers on the block, and so few buyers, you will most likely struggle to sell your business. But if you have tried to sell it before, it might just be a good time to try again. The fact that you are going to struggle might also mean that you have learned something that can help you sell your business.

This might sound like an opinion piece, but I think it applies to any business sale. Small business owners are not all the same, and you might have to learn a few things you would never do in a larger business. But if you have tried before, you might just be able to sell your business without all the struggles.
